Ikebana（いけばな） is the traditional Japanese art of flower arrangement, also known as “Kado（華道）.”
It began about 1,400 years ago and serves as a way to express nature and beauty through flowers.
A unique feature of Ikebana is the emphasis on creating “space” within the arrangement.
Whereas Western flower arrangements are often described as the “aesthetic of addition,” filling space with many flowers, Ikebana is known for the “aesthetic of subtraction,” where beauty is found in using empty space to enhance the composition.
In this workshop, everyone can easily enjoy the art of Ikebana. You’ll learn simple tips and tricks to create your own beautiful arrangement, with no prior experience needed. Whether you’re a beginner or simply curious, you can join with ease and have fun.

Hi, my name is Mayu.
I have over 8 years of experience in Ikebana, and I study the Ohara School. I love Japanese culture, and I find Ikebana to be a very refreshing and calming art.
In this workshop, I want to share Ikebana with Japanese people living abroad and people who are interested in Japanese culture.
I am still learning English, so I will explain everything in simple English and Japanese. The workshop is very easy to follow, so beginners can join in and have fun.
Through Ikebana, I hope you will enjoy the beauty of nature and feel peaceful moment together.

日本の伝統文化が好きで、特に生け花はとてもリフレッシュできるアートだと思っています。
このワークショップでは、海外に住んでいる日本人や、日本文化に興味のある方々に生け花の魅力を伝えていきたいと考えています。
内容はとてもシンプルで、簡単な英語と日本語でわかりやすく説明しますので、初心者の方でも安心して楽しんでいただけます。
いけばなを通して、自然の美しさを感じ、心が安らぐひとときを一緒に過ごせたら嬉しいです。
