Japan Culture and Art Festival

Held in celebration of Japan’s Culture Day, this community-driven festival brings together Melbourne-based Japanese creatives and locals who love Japanese culture. Through performances, workshops, and interactive exhibits, visitors of all ages can watch, learn, create, and play.

Most participants volunteer their time and talents, aiming to share the spirit and beauty of Japan. More than just a cultural showcase, the festival serves as a bridge connecting Japanese and non-Japanese communities in Melbourne.

Message from the organiser

The ‘Japan Culture and Art Festival’ started in 2010 at the Collingwood Town Hall and was an event to share and learn about Japanese Culture and Art through participating in various cultural workshops. The date coincides with the celebration of ‘Cultural Day’ in Japan on the 3rd November. Our focus was centred around ‘experiences’ and ‘interactions’. We aimed to create an environment where participants could truly experience Japanese culture first-hand in an attempt to further their understanding and appreciation of Japanese culture.
