1. Name:
Ronald McCoy
2. Country:
3. Length of study Japanese:
10 months
4. Why are you learning Japanese?:
I have Japanese friends who introduced me to Japanese culture, which I find fascinating and amazing. For me, understanding a language is an essential part of learning about other cultures, and for this reason, I have started learning Japanese.
5. How is your Japanese study?:
My Japanese study is slow but steady. I am a busy person and so I have learned that being persistent and learning a little everyday builds up over a period of time. I can’t believe how much I have learned in such a short time in the middle of a very busy life. I recently returned from a holiday in Japan and was amazed that even the little language learning that I have done so far has helped immensely in communicating and in improving my understanding of Japanese culture.
6. Why did you choose JAPANEASY?:
I met my Japanese friend at a very good German language learning class where we were both classmates. I have known her and her husband for about three years now, and I asked her if she knew of a good place to learn Japanese in Melbourne. She recommended JAPANEASY because of its high quality of language teaching which was closely linked to experiencing Japanese culture. She also agrees with me about the best ways to learn foreign languages which is something we have in common and, in my opinion, her recommendation for JAPANEASY was correct. Interestingly, after going to Japan for the first time, I now understand how important recommendations are in Japanese culture!
7. How would you like learning Japanese in JAPANEASY?:
This question could be changed to follow question 6 to “Why do you keep learning Japanese at JAPANEASY?” Ha, ha! I could say the excellent teaching – which is true – or the flexible learning arrangements that easily fit with my busy life style – which is also true. I could say it’s full of wonderful and enthusiastic people who make learning so much fun and enjoyable – which is also very true. But to be brutally honest, the real reason I love learning at JAPANEASY is that every time I walk through the front door, I feel like I walk into a little piece of Japan with all the language, hospitality and culture that that means, and the best way to learn a language is to go to the country! It’s the non-threatening 100% immersion that they offer which is unbeatable.
8. Your favorite Nihongo and reasons?:
“Arigato gozaimasu” – because at JAPANEASY, they really mean it.
